An eagle in flight

Well, someone once said that it is better to be lucky than good. I'd rather be both, but when the shutter release grabs this, I'll settle for lucky (click photo for full-size):

A bald eagle, probably a male, takes flight from a tree, on the Big Horn River in Thermopolis, Wy.

Well, it looks like this particular eagle has been wounded, judging by the gap in his feather coverage on that left wing.

Very nice! Living in NE Iowa, I've actually come across some bald eagle sightings myself. However, I expect you see a lot more sightings than what I would here.
